About

"I have always strived to make sure that the work I do will somehow change the hearts of people."

Drew McHolm's Scottish brogue gives him away immediately. Born in Glasgow and adopted as a baby, he grew up shaped by two powerful forces: an adoptive mother who was an avid reader and his greatest creative inspiration, and an adoptive father whose deep faith and tireless work ethic taught Drew the value of finishing what you start and pushing through whatever life puts in your way.

In his early twenties Drew worked as a railwayman and a steelworker before being invited to become a youth minister and worship leader at his local church. Through the years he has been an entrepreneur, a business leader, and a working musician and singer. Today he serves as pastor at the historic Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa — and now, he is an author.

Minister of Justice is his first novel. Drew and his wife Jesse live in Iowa and also have a home in Round Rock, Texas.

The Story Behind the Story

Inspiration & Background

A Life of Many Chapters

Railwayman. Steelworker. Youth minister. Worship leader. Entrepreneur. Musician. Mediator. Pastor. Drew McHolm has lived a remarkable — and never boring — life, and in every chapter he has carried the same conviction: that the work he does will somehow change the hearts of people.

Rooted in Faith & Story

Drew's adoptive mother was an avid reader who sparked his love of story. His adoptive father's deep faith and work ethic shaped his character. Today Drew serves as pastor at the historic Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa — the same moral seriousness that fills his pulpit fills every page of his debut novel.

From Glasgow to the Page

Born in Glasgow and steeped in the history of the British Isles, Drew brings an insider's knowledge of the IRA conflict era to Minister of Justice. His Scottish protagonist Peter Kennedy faces a moral crisis that no rulebook can resolve — a dilemma as real today as it was then.

"

Drew hits it out of the park with this exceptional, gripping and moving story. I started reading Minister of Justice and I quite honestly couldn't stop reading it. So good!
